BackgroundThe impact of medical research is usually judged on the basis citations in serial literature. A better test its utility through contribution to clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) how prevent, diagnose, and treat illness. This study aimed compare parameters lung cancer papers with those cited as references CPGs from 16 countries, Cochrane Collaboration. These comparisons were mainly based bibliographic data compiled Web Science (WoS).MethodologyWe examined 7357 (of which 4491 unique) a total 77 CPGs, compared them 73,214 published WoS between 2004 2018.ResultsReferences used by much more than overall body this cancer, their authors predominantly came smaller northern European countries. However, leading institutions whose most these USA, notably MD Anderson Cancer Center Texas, Memorial Sloan Kettering Center, New York, Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota. The types primarily trials, well three treatment modalities (chemotherapy, radiotherapy surgery).
